The key to social media success: short-form video

In addition to my social media and digital marketing work, I am a professional classical soprano. Previously, I reserved my social media knowledge and video editing skills for clients – until recently, I realized I could be testing my methods on my own singing videos.

The result was mind-boggling. The first creative short-form video edit of my singing went viral, ultimately earning me over a thousand new followers in just a few short weeks. Since then, I’ve repeated the “formula” I’ve created, and nearly every single one has gone viral, too – garnering hundreds of thousands of views and staggering engagement KPIs.

The creative idea behind these edits is showing audiences what goes through my head when I’m singing a difficult song or aria – all the technical skills I’m using to sing high notes, all the character work I’m using to perform theatrically, and all the humorous, self-deprecating thoughts that go along with performing. I’ve stumbled upon, in my humble opinion, a pretty clever formula for engaging existing audiences, finding new ones, and building trust, loyalty, and fanbase within both.
